Summer Term 1

This term is very exciting because we have our very own caterpillars and we are learning how to look after them! When they first arrived they were really really tiny, so we had to be careful when we were putting them into their special pots with their food. We have been watching them grow and they are getting really big now, some of them are even starting to go into their cocoons. Dave thinks that they are going to turn into cats but red group know they will turn into butterflies!

Spring Term 2

This term we have been exploring the hungry caterpillar and how he started life from an egg and eventually turns into a beautiful butterfly.

We learnt that he grew from a tiny little caterpillar to a big caterpillar from all the food that he eats. We have been looking at the food that he eats to help him grow and we have grown our own carrots, radishes and spring onions. We also looked at what foods are healthy and what foods are unhealthy.

We have also had a visit from Rachel, a dentist and we learnt that having too many unhealthy foods is not only bad for our tummy but also bad for our teeth. Rachel showed us how to clean our teeth properly with circle motions with our toothbrush and toothpaste. It was very exciting.

Spring Term 1

Red group have had an amazing start to the new year!

We have been working really hard with our numbers, learning what the symbols + and = mean and how we can use them. We have been doing this by counting how many children we have in red group each day, then adding our number to the other key groups. Then we are practising writing the numbers and our symbols to find the total.

This term we are also looking a stories and how they have a beginning, middle and end. We have been reading part of 'The Zoo' on the carpet with a big person then going into key groups to draw a picture of how we think the story might end. We have also been learning about rhyming and what might rhyme with our own names!

We have got lots of exciting things planned this term, we can't wait to share our new adventures with you.
